Cleaning the air filter

One of the important procedures for the internal combustion engine of any care - is the control of the air filter condition. The air filter plays an important role not only in faultless operation of the engine, but also on its state depends on the service life of your equipment. If the air filter is dirty, then the power system will get an insufficient quantity of air, which affects the composition of the fuel mixture. As a consequence the cylinder falls enriched fuel mixture and as a result, at a minimum, can fail spark plug. If the air filter is warped or even torn, then the cylinder gets dust, sand, etc., all this abrasive, as a result - failure of the piston (rings, piston, cylinder) and timing systems (valve). Therefore, in this article we look at the minimum action for filter maintenance.

First determine where the air filter. If you do not know, we advise to look in the instructions usually describes any manufacturer in the instructions, which is the air filter, and how to remove it. If you know where the air filter, or have a look at the instructions, then proceed.

Depending on the material of the air filter, cleaning procedure it may be different. If a filter paper, then it should be cleaned only by dry method,  air, if the filter of the foam, it can be wet cleaned.

First, the dry cleaning. For this we need an air compressor or at least cleaner. Remove the air filter, inspect it for integrity and begin to gently cleaned with air. If cleaned with a compressor, the dirt should blow out the filter inside, not outside, not to drive it deeper! If you use a vacuum cleaner, on the contrary, clean the filter from the outside. Purification should be carried out very carefully so as not to damage the filter. If you still damaged filter, then do not worry, in life there are things far worse :) and just replace the filter with a new one! We remind without an air filter, or damaged can not work !!!

Now for the cleaning of the filter foam (felt). To begin to conduct the dry cleaning, for a paper filter, the procedure described above. Then, it is possible, depending on the structure of the material to produce wet. Such a filter is usually fine to wash in suds or a mild soap solution or special fluids. If soap is used, its residue can remain in the filter. Therefore, the filter should be thoroughly rinsed with clean water. Wash the filter should be carefully, otherwise, as in the case of the paper filter is damaged it must be replaced. After wet cleaning the filter must be dried, then slightly grease the outer surface of the engine oil or a special liquid. The oil film on the surface of the filter serves as an additional barrier to dust!

After cleaning the filter, set it in place and all! You can work!

There are also combined air filter. The cleaning procedure for such filters are also combined. A paper part clean as indicated in the purification procedure for a paper filter, the foam, as in the procedure for cleaning the foam.

But most importantly!!! to remember !!! All filters can not be cleaned forever !!! sometimes they need to be changed !!!
